Racquel Kolsrud

Senior Wealth Advisor, CFP®, CDFA™

Growing up hard work, perseverance, and self-reliability were characteristics that were taught to me by my Dad from the time that I was very young. I was also taught that in order to have any kind of success one must be kind-hearted, compassionate, and selfless. I believe that all of these go hand in hand in order to live a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life.

When I was in college, I had a finance professor who pulled me aside after class and told me I should really consider a career in finance. I was a Business major but had not considered Finance as a focus. At that time, I thought a career in Finance meant only working with money and numbers. I really enjoyed working with people. He said something to me that I have never forgotten, “The most important part of being an advisor is knowing how to connect and relate to people. Every person has a story of how they got to where they are today. People want to tell you their story. You are able to connect with people at a level that allows them to trust and rely on you.” I make sure to remember that every day. I went on to gain the knowledge I would need to begin my career. I want my clients to know that they will always been taken care of. I know what it feels like to worry about money. I never want my clients to worry as I did when I was young. I am here to care and work for them.

I feel it is important to support the neighborhoods and cities in which we live in work. I am committed to giving back to the community. I dedicate hours every month to various organizations that are committed to transforming lives and building healthy communities. I also train and compete in triathlons in the Half and Full Ironman distances. Athletics have always been a very big part of my life. I fell in love with triathlons because it is similar to the work I do every day. I follow a plan to ensure success at my race, just as I help my clients with their financial and investment plans to ensure they accomplish all of their goals and live the life they want to live.

Before co-founding Vigilare Wealth Management in 2011, I worked for Charles Schwab for ten years. I then worked at the largest Registered Investment Advisory firm in San Diego for two years. Over this time, I have worked with clients from all walks of life. I love helping people through the transitions of life. This can be a new job promotion, a baby, divorce, death and most importantly, retirement. All of these events can be scary and come with uncertainty. I do all that I can to take the stress of managing their financial affairs throughout the highs and lows that life can bring. I want my clients to live the life they want to live.

Over the years, I have gained additional knowledge that will allow me to help my clients with various situations that they are dealing with. I currently hold the designations CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst™ . I have also completed the Professional Fiduciary Certification Program offered by the University of California school system. I am able to guide my clients through the various situations that they encounter throughout their lifetime. I am with them every step of the way.
